Sheela Na Gig

Sheela na gig, St. Mary and St. David Church, Kilpeck, Herefordshire, England (c. 1130 – 1160)

She holds herself open across time
Thousands of years through carved stone
Cackling hag protecting
With joyful cauldron of womb,
Laughing portal of vagina,
Long past days of bleeding,
fertility,
Long past days of
Youthful beauty, supple skin,
Life and death remain between hips,
Knowledge of cosmos,
Enter all that is.
She holds herself open with her own hands
Reflecting that we too,
Are comets of prophecy,
We too are shooting of stars,
We too are light years
And dark matter
Black holes consuming, emitting
The luminous —
We too are particle and wave,
We too are Goddess before you.
Bow.
