After the War

I have joined the feast with a one-eyed God
Toasting ancient battles with vino wine
As women dance around the fire-lit halls
Their husbands praising beauty most divine.
I have seen Loki look with hatred at the throne
Born bright but too weak to topple his brother
I have intercepted the poisoned drink he sent over
To make the one-eyed god choke and breath smother.
I have listened to the recent dead warriors
Recalling glorious fights in the world of men
While never taking my eyes from the joker God
Who would take no second chance again.
I have declined Odin’s generous offer to stay
Taking my cloak and fled to the safety of night
While Odin sings of brotherly love for all to hear
While Loki tries to smile with lips so white.
