Late one night
It calls me
In voices green and black
Through stone walls
It seeks me
Through broken concrete crack
Its vines will twine through darkness
Its jade snakes are underfoot.
Its tendrils always searching,
Earth’s painted soul in soot.
It grabs me with its roots then,
And pulls me out and down
Away from the metal electric
And away from human town
Into the wilds I am sent
Where stars meet violent ends
To the garden of Gethsemane
An end to end all ends.
But from that darkness blooming
A new seed is set to grow
Into the sky it is burning
Out of deep blackness down below.
